State athletes pick up steam, scoop 62 medals on Day 4

Manipur's medal collection picked up steam on the fourth day of the 2nd North East Olympic Games 2022 by scooping 62 medals, including 26 gold, across wushu, taekwondo, track & held, shooting, judo and swimming.
Manipur's wushu athletes shone brightest in the day's competition with a rich haul of 15 medals.
The medal haul included 11 gold, four silver and one bronze.
The taekwondo team, on the other hand, recorded their best-ever performance after two days of gold medal drought.
On Sunday, they dished out a strong showing by winning six gold, four silver and one bronze medals.
The track & field athletes too were impressive as they kick-started their medal haul with a bang, racking up four gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
In shooting, Manipur opened their medal account with three gold, five silver and two bronze medals.
Of the three gold medals, two were won courtesy of individual competition while the other one was secured by the women's team.
Shamurailatpam Tulky Devi shot an impressive score of 563 to bag gold medal in the 50m rifle prone women's individual event where Meghalaya's Anjali Singh (561) came off second best and Assam's Shanta Sharma completed the podium.
Yaiphabi Talem, on the other hand, dominated the 10m pistol (ISSF) women's individual event by accumulating 554 points as Meghalaya's Shirley Mary Kharbuli (543) was a distant second and Meghalaya's Balari Shisha Rani (541) settled for bronze medal.
In the 10m pistol women's team event, the state trio of Yaiphabi Talem, Irengbam Re-ema Devi and Sylvia Loukrakpam together garnered 1599 points to win the gold medal.
Assam finished second with 1597 points and Meghalaya secured the third place with 1591 points.
Meanwhile, the state men's team made up of Kunyson Tonambam, Khagemba Loukrakpam and K Prem Singh gained a total of 1634 points to settle for silver medal in the 10m pistol men's team contest.
Assam were the top finishers with 1650 points while Mizoram took the bronze after claiming 1617 points.
Kunyson Tonambam (550) bagged silver medal in the 10m pistol men's individual event after finishing behind Assam's Yash Gautam (556) as Shhaurya Sharrma, also from Assam, claimed the bronze.
Manipur also bagged bronze medal in the 50m rifle prone women's team event courtesy of Jyotika Laishram, N Sonia Devi and Shamurailatpam Tulky Devi who combined earned 1558 points for their medal.
Meghalaya won the event with a score of 1664 while Mizoram sealed the second place scoring 1616 points.
In judo, the state team wrapped up their day's campaign with one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
Manipur's medal tally now stands at 109 (42 gold, 37 silver and 30 bronze) .
