Awareness programme organised

Thang-Ta Observation Committee conducted an awareness programme today at Moirang Purel Higher Secondary School located at Moirangpurel to mark the 28th day of their month-long Thang-Ta Day observation which commenced from October 15 .
As per a statement, the month-long observation is being carried out under the supervision of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) on the theme "Thang-Ta for an ethical way of living" .
The awareness programme was attended by Veronica, principal, Moirang Purel Higher Secondary School; Ningthoujam Ajitkumar Mangang, president KIMACS and Leitanthem Dhamendro, chairman, Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee as the presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal of Moirang Purel Higher Secondary School highlighted the necessity for women to learn a martial art such as Thang-ta for their self defence.
She added that learning Thang-Ta would be a step towards preserving Manipuri culture and identity.
Leitanthem Dhamendro also addressed the gathering and stressed on the importance of learning proper etiquette and manners.
