Imphal, November 13 2022:
Works minister Konthoujam Govindas has stressed the need for encouraging and promoting the talents and knowledge of everyone concerned for further development, especially in this era of globalisation.
He made the statement during the foundation day celebration of Institute of Development Studies (IDS) held at the conference hall of Assembly Guest House, Majorkhul, here, on Sunday.
The function was also attended by Thangjam Agro Industries Private Limited managing director Thangjam Joykumar, Meetei Council Moreh president Th Thoiba, Manipur People's Front, Assam president Yengkhom Upendra and IDS chairman Prof N Mohindro as presidium members.
MLA Govindas said that as it would be disadvantageous for us to ignore the changes brought on by globalisation, we must work hard to improve our living standard through improving the livelihoods by paying attention to the trade and commerce sector.
The MSME sector is an important part of the state and various activities are being taken up continuously to develop this sector, he added.
The MLA then urged against sticking to the mindset of following others and should instead tiy to come up with ideas of our own.
Manipur may be a small state but it is brimming with talents.
However, there is lack of unity among the people, which is hindering the progress of the state.
Thus, he urged all concerned to work together for joint development, while expressing firm belief that IDS will play an important role in this regard.
