Tiddim Road cleaned ahead of Sangai Festival

Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Bishnupur in collaboration with local clubs carried out cleanliness drive along the Tiddim Road stretch in connection with upcoming Sangai Festival-2022 commencing from November 21 .
The drive was carried out from Tera Urak to Khoirakpan wherein volunteers of United Library and Sports Organisation, Ngaikhong Siphai; Keinou Youth Club; Green Brigade Toubul; Rising Club, Ngaikhong Khullen; Ngakchoupokpi Youth Development Club; Joypur Khunou Youth Club; Green Defender Joypur Khunou; and Khoirakpan Youth Club actively participated.
Speaking on the sidelines of the drive, NYK, Bishnupur deputy director Dr Dhana Salam informed that the campaign was conducted to clear the plastic waste and thick vegetation growing besides the road as Bishnupur district will be main venue for the Sangai Festival 2022 .
He also said that in order to attract tourists from within the state, other states and countries, wastages especially in isolated areas will also be cleaned.
He then urged the people residing alongside the road not to randomly dump wastes and conveying that local organisations should shoulder the responsibility in the development of a village.
The deputy director said that the cleanliness drive along the Tiddim Road from Utlou to Maibam Lokpa hill will be carried out on November 15 and the same programme to be continued from Nachou to Ngangkhalawai in collaboration with local clubs.
