SDO Sawombung office reopens after a decade

The offices of SDO & SDC, Sawombung, and Sub-Registrar, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Society (ARCS) for Imphal East district, which have been functioning from the DC office Complex, Porompat were reopened after over a decade at Sawombung under Sub-Divisional Development Monitoring Mission (SDDMM) on Sunday.
Speaking as chief guest at the office resumption function, CAF&PD minister Karam Shyam asked government employees to surrender in case he/she is still receiving PDS rice or resign from their respective posts if they want to continue enjoying the benefits.
PDS rice under NFSA are distributed at subsidised rate to the economically marginalised families and there are reports of several government employees receiving the benefits, he said, and cautioned that the government will initiate actions and suspend employees undeservingly enjoying such facilities soon.
The minister further said that burning down of government offices as a means of raising demands to the government is unacceptable.
Sawombung SDO office had suffered such tragedies on multiple occasions in the past but the present government will not tolerate such acts anymore, he said.
While reminding all concerned that government offices are public assets, he appealed to the public to treat and take care of them as their own properties while understanding the services these offices deliver to the people.
Susindro also confided that the government is planning to construct a flyover in Lamlong Keithel area considering the traffic congestion.
Stating that lack of sincerity among contractors entrusted to execute government projects is the primary reason for loss of public money and expressing resentment over failure of projects to deliver benefits to the intended target, the minister urged contractors to adhere to technical specifications mentioned in the project for ensuring durability of the vital infrastructure.
In his address, Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha called for unity among the public and their cooperation to the government in taking up development projects.
He also expressed belief that reopening of the offices will help the people of the surrounding areas in availing services related with the offices.
Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar, Moirang MLA Th Shanti, Patsoi MLA S Kunjakeswor, DC (Imphal East) Kh Diana, SP (Imphal East) M Pradip, BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president N Nimbus, joint secretary (finance) Anna Arambam and BJP Lamlai Man dal president E Amitkumar also attended the programme.
Former ZP member of Tellou Chana Seijang ZP constituency, and former pradhans of Nongren Chingnungkhok, Takhel, Sawombung and Pungdongbam GPs were also present at the event.
