On the 28th day bf the month-long Thang-ta awareness programme being organised by Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS), an awareness programme on the theme 'Thang-Ta for an Ethical Way of Living' was conducted at Moirang Purel Panam Higher Secondary School, Imphal East on Sunday.
School principal Veronica, KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajitkumar Mangang and Committee chairman Leitanthem Dhamendro attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, principal Veronica stressed the need for the students to get acquainted with the indigenous martial art form as it will not only help in promoting the art form but will also serve as a crucial means of self-defence, especially for girl students.
It is also the responsibility of the younger generations to keep alive the culture and tradition of the state for the future generation, she said.
Meanwhile, Leitanthem Dhamendro called upon the students to understand and uphold the social tradition, respect parents, elders, teachers, and lead a well-mannered lifestyle as such culture will lead the society to the path of development, peace and social equity.
He also encouraged them to understand the values incorporated in Thang-Ta and work towards bringing about a healthy society while upholding the history and heritage of the state.
