6th International Women's Polo : Manipur-A, Manipur-B win to remain in hunt for title clash

Hosts Manipur-A and Manipur-B are still in the hunt for the final berth in the 6th International Women's Polo Tournament registering their second victories in three matches today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Manipur-A who opened their account with a 10-0 win over IPA yesterday, eased to a 10-3 victory over Luxembourg today courtesy trebles from Kh Habe and M Priya Devi as all three goals from Luxembourg came from the mallet of Sandrine Natacha Dubois.
Manipur-A skipper Kh Deventy also found the target twice as Jetholia Th and Y Ranjita added a goal apiece to set up the huge win for Manipur.
Manipur had a slow start and were leading 4-3 at halftime with all the four scorers for Manipur adding a goal each.
Kh Habe and M Priya scored two goals each in the third chukker to complete their trebles and make it 9-3 with another goal from Kh Deventy.
Y Ranjita then scored the final goal in the last chukker.
Later in the day, I Sangeeta's own goal in the final chukker proved costly as Manipur-B won 4-3 against IPA.
IPA were leading 2-0 after the first chukker with Namratha Jadhav and I Sangeeta adding a goal each but Neelu RK made it 1-2 at halftime before M Bijenty pulled level in the first minute of the third chukker.
I Sangeeta scored again to give IPA the lead in the 5th minute but Neelu RK made sure that the score remained levelled at 3-3 at the end of third chukker with a last minute strike.
The fourth chukker saw an intense competition from both ends but Sangeeta fumbled and conceded an own goal at the final minute and eventually IPA went down 3-4 .
Manipur-A and Manipur-B will lock horns for a place in the final tomorrow from 1.30 pm while Luxembourg will play title favourites South Africa from 2.30 pm.
The final match is slated for February 20 .
