Noney, February 18 2023:
NH 37 expansion affected land owners of Longmai Bazar, Noney district headquarters have urged the government to address their grievances at the earliest and cautioned of resorting to various form of democratic agitations.
Addressing the media at Longmai Bazar on Saturday, the landowners decried that there has been no response to numerous memorandums submitted to authorities and departments concerned to rectify the errors in the surveys, demarcation and assessment of compensation done by the departments since July of 2021.While asserting that they claiming and fighting for their rights and free & fair compensation, the affected landowners also alleged that one Sk Adipou has received compensation of over than Rs 1 crore in-spite of the fact that land and structure of the said individual will never be affected by the double lane expansion of NH 37.While contending that there are many other bogus claimants, they expressed strong resentment that genuinely affected 'pucca' buildings and 'semi-pucca' buildings were estimated at under Rs 5 lakh for compensatory claims.
The landowners continued that knowing the fact of dissimilarities and existence of many left-out land and structures, they have repeatedly appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and not to process payment of compensation money.
However, instead of rectifying the errors the department concerned disbursed the money even to the bogus claimants, they mentioned.
The landowners also pointed out that as per the High Court of Manipur's order passed in connection with Written Petition (Civil) No.443 of 2022 dated June 16, 2022, a joint survey for assessing standing structures, trees, horticultural crops, etc., was ordered by deputy commissioner Noney on October 4, 2022 and survey report submitted by the DC to the secretary (Revenue) on January 30.As such, they appealed to the state government and the public in general to stand firm till justice of delivered and reiterated that they will launch agitations if grievances of the affected land owners are not redressed.
