AR provides training on organic farming

In continuation with the efforts of Assam Rifles to reach out to the local population and assist them in sustainability, Sehlon Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a training of farmers on Alternate Cropping techniques and Organic Farming in coordination with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandel on Friday at Aibol Joupi.
In a release, PRO IGR (S) informed that the team distributed seeds to villagers and gave them tips on high yield hybrid seeds, high efficiency in water conservation, judicious use of land, seed germination, summer cooling of crops, sprinkler system for irrigation and other relevant subjects.
A total of 72 potential farmers participated in the workshop, it said.
Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Battalion organised second meet with civil society organisation leaders of Lilong area on Thursday to discuss image building of Lilong.
The first meet was held on February 6 .
Those present in Thursday's meet observed that Lilong is a much improved area with people yearning for change and determination to shed baggage of the past.
Plans to promote tourism and positive actions to align Lilong along with rising Manipur were also discussed, said the PRO in another release.
The meeting was in continuation with the efforts of Assam Rifles to promote harmony, peace & development with a focus on employment generation.
Means and ways to attract development, bring employment and rebuild image of ever improving Lilong was deliberated with all stakeholders.
A decision was also taken to organise an all-encompassing Lilong festival in near future, added the release.
