SU claim Brig RS Sirohi Trophy title

Sagolband United (SU) of Sagolband bagged the championship title of the Brig RS Sirohi Trophy football tournament that concluded on Saturday at Tumuyon Khullen village.
The valedictory programme was graced by Naobi Sharma, ex-president of ISTV Network, as chief guest and Robin Blacky, national board member of MSME and president of Southern Sporting Union (SSU), as guest of honour.
Chief guest Naobi Sharma stated that games and sports bring people together and commended the organisers of the tournament for their choice of the theme "No room for communalism", saying that there is no message stronger than the theme of the tournament.
He also called the SSU president "son of the soil" for promoting inclusiveness and diversity while assuring to "propose Tumuyon Khullen village under Khelo India" through media platforms.
In his speech, Robin Blacky while highlighting the technical challenges in organising the tournament stated with the change of time sports play a very big role in the society, citing the example of many successful state sportspersons bringing laurels and contributing to the state economy.
He also mentioned that Manipur has the largest number of footballers playing in the leading football cubs in the country.
Robin then said that peace and unity can be brought to the land through games and sports by know ing each other and building a bond of friendship.
The final match was played between Sagolband United and Youth Organization Sporting Club (Khurai) where the former prevailed by a 2-0 margin.
Champions SU walked away with a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and the run ners-up received Rs 80,000 .
"Golden Booth" was awarded to Thanglalven of HMT for his 5 goals, while "Golden Ball" went to Changwung Shimray of the YOSC, and "Golden Glove" to Rocky of SU.
Individual prize winners got Rs 5,000 each.
