HLTTA fetes Thang-Ta medallists

The Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association (HLTTA) Manipur today feted the State athletes who brought home medals from the recently concluded 5th Khelo India Youth Games-Madhya Pradesh and 28th National Sub-Junior and Senior National Thang-Ta Championship hosted in Tamil Nadu were felicitated today in a programme held today at GM Hall Imphal.
The felicitation programme was graced by Wangkhemcha Shamjai, president AMWJU; Huidrom Premkumar, president HLTTA and Thounaojam Premkumar, president Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association.
Notably Manipur finished 7th in Khelo India Youth Games with a total of 34 medals- 13 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals.
Of the total 34, Thang-Ta athletes of HLTTA won Manipur 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals in the competition held from February 8 to 10.Leitanthem Oni (-56 kg: Phunaba Ama), Heisnam Century (-60 kg : Phunaba Anishuba), Yumnam Dayarani Devi (-52 kg: Phunaba Anishuba), Koijam Merina (-56 kg: Phunaba Anishuba) and Athokpam Kemi Devi (-52 kg : Phunaba Ama) added gold medals to the State's tally as Huidrom Aleea Chanu (-56 kg Phunaba Ama) and Laipubam Bishal (-56 kg : Phunaba Anishuba) won Manipur a silver and a bronze medal respectively.
In the meantime, Manipur had topped the National Sub-Junior and Senior Thang-Ta Championship held from February 1 to 3 with a total of 48 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals.
