District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament held

District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament on the theme, "Vashudaiva Kutumbakam" for Thoubal District was held today at Thoubal Moijing Community Hall.
The programme was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal and Youth Empowerment and Development Society Moijing.
The event was focused on the topics, "G-20 & Y-20 submit", "Mission LIFE", "International Year of Millets" and"Catch the Rain Campaign" .
It was attended by Lilong SDO, Angom Shijalembi Chanu; Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh, principal Lilong Haoreibi College; Dr Md Hamidur Rahaman, assistant professor, Department of Biotechnology, Manipur University; Md Abdul Warish, ex-Pradhan, Moijing GP and Michael Thangminlien Mate, Youth Coordinator Thoubal as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Angom Shijalembi Chanu stated that the role of youths in the development of the society is very important.
Expressing concern about the present situation of the environment, he appealed to the youth to actively take part in environment conservation.
Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh spoke on India's G20 Presidency, involvement & engagement of youth under G20-Youth 20 Summit, its themes and importance of unsung heroes & role models for youths.
Md Abdul Warish highlighted issues of water scarcity and tree cover relation to water table while Dr Md Hamidur Rahaman spoke on Mission LiFE and importance of forest & water conservation and rain water harvesting.
Michael Thangminlien Mate elaborated on the "Catch the rain where it falls when it falls" project of the National Water Mission executed by NYKs.
Later, Angom Shijalembi Chanu led the youths in a water pledge and officially launched the "Catch the Rain" campaign.
The event culminated with a cultural programme, "Atithi Devo Bhava" .
