Imphal, April 19 2022:
Manipur women's slumped yet again in the Senior Women's T-20 League 2021-22 Plate Group competition as they went down by 110 runs to Jammu and Kashmir at ACA Stadium, Barsapara today.
Jammu and Kashmir were toss winners and despite suffering a big jolt losing top three batters on duck, they stacked up a total of 149 runs for 3 courtesy half centuries from Sheerazah Banoo (54 off 55 balls) and Rubia Syed (94 off 52 balls) .
Manipur, who have won twice in three previous matches, however failed horribly in the chase and could muster only 39 runs for 9 in 20 overs as J&K bowlers produced a brilliant bowling performance.
Chingkhei M gave Manipur some hope early in Jammu and Kashmir innings as she removed Sarla Devi for 3-ball duck and trapped Bushra Ashraf lbw for golden duck in two consecutive (3rd and 4th) deliveries of the first over.
Jammu and Kashmir were further reduced to 10/3 in the fifth over as Bawandeep Kaur got run out for 9-ball duck but Sheerazah Banoo (45 off 42 balls) and Rubia Syed (94 off 52) stood like a wall to produce a 94-ball 139 runs partnership for the fourth wicket and resurrected the innings.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir bowler Sandhya ran riot to enjoy a four wicket haul for 3 runs in 4 overs, dismissing Kalpana on 2-ball duck in the second ball of the first over and Loidangton for 2 in the third over to make it 2/2 for Manipur.
Sandhya continued the onslaught to further pile pressure on Manipur line up removing K Ranjita on golden duck before Bismah Hassan undone Manipur's Chingkhei M on 7-ball duck.
Sandhya then completed her four wicket haul sending off Monica on 6-ball duck to reduce Manipur to 4/5 after 5 overs.
With departure of Ganga Waikhom (6 off 20 balls) who was trying hard to steady the chase for the 6th wicket in the 11th over, Milan Y held her nerves to strike 3 fours on the way to her tally of 22 runs off 34 balls.
Linthoingambi (5) and Niruta (1) then had to close out the innings on losing 39 with one wicket left in the hand.
Manipur will play Pondicherry in the next match on April 21 at the same venue before taking on Mizoram on April 24 .
