State Conference of AITUC to be held on May 1

The 16th State conference of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee will be held on May 1 which is observed as the International Workers' Day at THAU ground.
General Secretary of AITUC, L Sotinkumar made the above announcement while addressing a press meet at Irawat Bhawan today.
He further informed that the issues of the labourers in the State and the country will be addressed in the conference and will discuss plans and measures to alleviate the plights of the labourers accordingly.
The conference will be attended by around fifty unions affiliated to AITUC, he added.
Stating that the rights of the labourers have been violated considerably in the country, he said that the labourers are the weaker sections of the society which have been oppressed just for the gains of the elite classes.
Elaborating on the various demands of AITUC in the interest of the working class, he said that the AITUC will strive earnestly for the rights of the working class and labourers and urged the authorities concerned to provide the schemed workers a monthly pay of not less than Rs 18,000 .
He also mentioned the issues of the Mid-day meal workers and Anganwadi workers who are receiving just a meagre amount as wage as compared to their significant contributions.
Members of other organisations which include Manipur Loumi Lup, All Manipur ASHA Workers Union, Mid-day meal Workers Union and Anganwadi Workers Helpers Mini Workers Union were also present at today's press meet.
