Imphal, April 19 2022:
The 16th state conference of All India Trade Union Congress (AIUTC) will be held along with' the observance of May Day on May 1 at THAU ground, AIUTC general secretary L Sotinkumar has informed.
Sotinkumar told media persons after an AIUTC state committee meeting held at Irawat Bhawan here on Tuesday that the state committee meeting decided to conduct the 16th state conference on May 1 along with May Day observance.
According to Sotinkumar, crude oil in India costs only around Rs 53 per litre but price of refined petrol inclusive of various taxes and commission for retailers is currently Rs 110 per litre at retail outlets.
Despite collecting huge tax from petroleum products, the government is unable to provide regular wages to workers while top officials are enjoying unprecedentedly high salary, he said and stressed the need for workers to fight against the huge disparities in wages and salary.
He also said that AITUC will fight against meagre wages given to Mid-Day Meal workers who are getting only Rs 1,000 per month that too for only ten months in a year.
These issues will be discussed in the upcoming 16th state conference of AITUC, he added.
