Teacher convicted

Special Judge Fast Track Special Court (POCSO) number 1 Manipur Salam Imocha has on Tuesday convicted a 32 year old private school teacher under Section 4 of POCSO Act on the charge of defiling a minor girl on March 25, 2016 and fixed April 21 for sentence hearing to announce the quantum of punishment.
Convict Khwairakpam Maheshwor @ Sanahal (32), s/o Manihar of Nambol Kha Jiri appeared before the Court along with his counsel for the announcement of the judgment order which was kept reserved from February 19 .
The case was on against the convict after the father of the victim lodged a complaint to Bishnupur women police station on March 25, 2016 .
After the investigation, the IO of the case filed a chargesheet against the convict.
During the trial, 10 prosecution witnesses were produced before the Court to prove the charges levelled against the convict and produced 17 documents.
No defence witness was produced before the Court from the side of the convict.
During the examination, the convict admitted that he had taken the victim to Churachandpur via a passenger bus but due to imposition of the bandh there, he brought the victim to Imphal instead and stayed in a hotel.
From there, he took the victim to Torbung again and stayed there for a night.
The Convict also admitted that he is a married man and has one son.
The Court also remanded the convict to judicial custody.
