Bishnupur, April 19 2022:
Khundongbam Nobo (59) of Ngaikhong Khullen Awang Leikai under Oinam AC suffered a stroke two years ago, which left him paralysed and unable to speak.
Since then, his family has been facing immense difficulties even in scrapping one meal for a day.
As such, Nobo's wife Shantibala has appealed to the au thority concerned to waive off the loan that Nobo took for a fishery project from MSCB while he was in good health.
Speaking to this daily, Shantibala conveyed that there are only 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl) in the family.
The eldest son (22) is studying BA 2nd Semester at Imphal College, and is unable to assist the family as he is living with two holes in his heart.
However, due to lack of funds, her daughter (19) and her youngest son (16) were unable to fill the exam form and thus, could not appear the matriculate exam.
She has no other choice other than to shed tears, watching her children's friends and classmates going to schools and colleges.
Shantibala further conveyed that the family's paddy land, which was used as collateral for the loan, was pawned off for Nobo's treatment.
While her daughter is trying to assist the family through embroidery or other available works, she (Shantibala) tries to find work at other people's fields, scavenging for water snails and others to ensure at least one meal a day.
However, there are many times when they had to starve just so they could buy Nobo's medicines.
On top of this, they are in heavy debt, she added.
Recounting that the family did not suffer much when Nobo was in good health, Shantibala said that they have no other option other than to pray to the almighty for Nobo's quick recovery.
There is also no means of taking Nobo to hospital for treatment.
As such, she appealed to all concerned to help provide some sort of reprieve to her family, while further urging the Chief Minister and the authority concerned to waive off the loan Nobo had taken from MSCB.
