Superplate Tournament : PCC cap Group B campaign with fourth win

PCC-Mayai Koibi ended their Group B campaign in the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament with a 57-run win over UCC for the fourth win in as many as 7 matches.
PCC won the toss and opted to bat first at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground and amassed 206 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs.
PCC then bowled out UCC-Uripok for 149 runs in 32.3 overs to seal their fourth win.
For PCC, skipper Rohit Soubam scored slow but significant 108-ball 50 as Takhelmayum Vikash (26), Ajay Mahto Kumar (19), Charoibam Tyson (14) and Lucky Thokchom (15) added double digit figures besides 48 extra runs conceded by UCC bowlers to gather 206 runs.
The innings saw Leishangthem Bishorjit (3/30) and Roshan Das (3/43) sharing two wickets each to keep PCC strike rate in check.
Chasing 207 for the win, UCC had a slow start but Thoudam Monet removed two wickets in the third and fourth deliveries of the 13th over to reduce the team to 50 for 2 .
Monet also removed S Nelson for 12 runs to leave further dent and walked away with the bowling figures of 3/26 in 3 overs before Bicky Kumar (27) and Roshan Das (42) forged a 74 run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Bikcy's departure to Lucky Thokchom however marked the turning point of the innings as UCC dipped further with Rohit Soubam (4/16) and Lucky Thokchom (3/21 in 6.3 overs) rattling the UCC batting order.
Rohit Soubam who hit a half century and picked four wickets was adjudged man of the match.
The Group A match scheduled at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak was cancelled due to bandh and two teams were forced to share a point each.
With these, the semi-final line up of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament was completed.
Group A winners, PTCC will play Group B runners up KCC in the first semi-final match on April 28 at Dhobi Lampak before Group B winners ESU play Group A runners up KSDO in the second semi-final on April 29 .
