JAC to lift blockade on oil tankers on NH2

The JAC formed against the Makhan bridge incident has agreed to withdraw the proposed blockade of oil tanker convoy on NH 2 within the stretch of Makhan Khuman and Mao Gate after it reached an agreement with All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers' Union during a meeting held at the office chamber of SP Senapati on Wednesday.
In a joint release, JAC convener D Loli and Union's representative Maimom Anil Meitei informed that a meeting was held at the office of SP Senapati Karthik Malladi in connection with the incident that occurred on April 19 near Makhan bridge.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Union and the JAC.
After a long deliberation, it was agreed upon that SP Senapati will write to CRPF IGP for taking corrective measures to avoid such unfortunate incident in future as well as to take all necessary actions to control speed limit, rash and negligent driving and that a sum of Rs 3.5 lakh will be paid as compensation to the victim by the representatives of the Union, it added.
