Governor inspects border fencing work

Imphal, April 26 2023:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey inspected Indo-Myanmar Border fencing in Moreh along Border Pillars 78 and 79 on her second day of Moreh visit, today.
The Governor also visited 5 Assam Rifles Forward Post at Chavangphai where she was briefed by the officials of Border Road Task Force (BRTF) about the progress of the on-going fencing work along the border area.
The officials informed the Governor that the fencing works along the border will be completed by the first week of May this year.
Anusuiya Uikey also interacted with the engineers and workers of BRTF and thanked them for their relentless efforts to complete the fencing work.
On her arrival at the AR post, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome by Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Letpao Haokip, Brigadier Ved Pal Yadav who is Commander of 26 Sector, Assam Rifles and Colonel Raja Israil, CO of 5 AR and the jawans.
The Governor interacted with the officers and jawans and thanked them for their contribution in maintaining the safety and security of the citizens of the State.
She also interacted with women jawans and enquired about their grievances to take up necessary steps.
Talking to the jawans, the Governor said she is proud of the security forces who have been working round the clock for the safety of citizens.
"Cases of drug trafficking, illegal smuggling etc.
along the border areas have been checked significantly due to the strict vigil maintained by the security forces, " she added.
Earlier, the Governor visited the Moreh Helipad where she was briefed by the officers of Assam Rifles about the security preparedness along the border to check infiltration, drug trafficking, illegal smuggling and to face any eventuality in wake of the current political instability and disturbances in Myanmar.
