Input distribution programme under Natural Farming and Tribal Sub Plan project held

A one day "Input distribution programme under Natural Farming and Tribal Sub Plan project " was organized today by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) -Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Churachandpur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre today at the KVK office.
The function was graced by Dr Arnab Sen, Head of Regional Centre, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Manipur Centre as the chief guest; Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Principal Scientist, ICAR- Manipur Centre as guest of honour and Dr L Somendro Singh, Head i/c KVK Churachandpur as the president, said a press release by KVK Churachandpur.
During the inaugural session, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of natural farming which is based on on-farm biomass recycling with major stress on biomass mulching, use of on-farm cow dung-urine formulations; maintaining soil aeration due to aggravated use of fertilizer and subsequent shifting towards sustainable farming system without much compromise in overall production and productivity.
Inputs under natural farming like plastic barrel drum for Jeevamrut preparation and Bee box and under TSP programme inputs like kharif vegetable seeds, fruits saplings, tools and implements, chickens, ducklings, organic chemicals for seed treatments, mushroom spawn were distributed during the programme.
Altogether 53 farmers from different villages of Churachandpur district participated in the said programme.
Later a technical session on awareness cum training programme on the topic "Potential of Cashewnut plantation in NEH Region with special reference to Manipur State" sponsored by the ICAR- Directorate of Cashewnut Research, Puttur, Karnataka organized by ICAR RC for NEH region, Manipur Centre and ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur.
