Governor scans border fencing, meets AR jawans

Imphal, April 26 2023:
On her second day of Moreh visit, Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Wednesday inspected the Indo-Myanmar border fencing in Moreh along the Border Pillar No 78 and 79.The Governor also visited 5th Assam Rifles Forward Post at Chavangphai where she was briefed by the officials of Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) about the progress of the on-going fencing works along the border.
Officials informed the Governor that the on-going fencing works along the border will be completed by first week of May this year.
Governor also interacted with the engineers and workers of BRTF and thanked them for their relentless efforts to complete the fencing work.
On her arrival at the AR post, Governor Anusuiya Uikey was accorded a warm welcome by TA & Hills minister Letpao Haokip, 26 Sector Assam Rifles commander Brig Ved Pal, 5 AR CO Col Raja Israil and the jawans.
She interacted with officers and jawans and thanked them for their contribution in maintaining the safety and security of the citizens of the state.
She also interacted with women personnel posted there, enquired about their grievances and assured them to take up necessary steps.
Talking to the personnel, the Governor commended security forces who have been working round the clock for our safety.
She said, although anti-social elements, drug smugglers and militants continue to try to disturb peace from across the border, our security forces are strong enough to foil their attempts at any cost.
Cases of drug trafficking, illegal smuggling, etc., along the border have decreased significantly due to the strict vigil maintained by the security forces, she added.
Earlier, Governor visited the Moreh Helipad where she was briefed by the officers of Assam Rifles about the security preparedness along the border to check infiltration, drug trafficking, illegal smuggling and to face any eventuality in brisk of the current political instability and disturbances in Myanmar at any time.
