RK Bhogen wins Anou chess title

With a competition tally of 6.5 points and 27.5 progressive score RK Bhogen Singh emerged as the champion of the 24th kh Anou Singh Memorial State level open chess tournament.
The seven-day tournament organised by Kwakeithel Chess Club under the aegis of Manipur chess Association and competed by over 50 players concluded today at Kwakeithel Boys' Junior High School.
while Bhogen bagged the trophy and cash award of Rs 7000, G Inao Sharma secured the runner-up position on 6 pts and 22 Progressive Score to walk away with Rs 5000 cash prize.
The third position, decided by draw of lots between O Ningthem, N Kishan and N Bangkim, who finished on identical 5.5 points and 23.5 progressive score went to Ningthem followed by Kishan and Bangkim in fourth and fifth places respectively.
Three girl participants were also awarded cash and gift prizes with similar prizes also presented to one most promising player of the tournament, two joint winners of Young Promising Player and three veteran players.
The prize distribution cum closing ceremony was held with MLA RK Anand Singh, KCC president S Rashi Singh and advisor (TRAU) Dr P Nishikanta Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
