Police, public join hands to clean city

Imphal, May 25 2014:
Personnel of Manipur Police and Manipur Rifles, Imphal Municipal council workers, NGO acti-vists, business community and women vendors joined hands to clean different pockets of the capital city's commercial centres today.
Places covered in the joint endeavour include Thangal Bazar Khoyathong Road, Na-gamapal road, MG Avenue, BT road, Paona Bazar, Wa-hengbam Leikai to Keisham- pat junction, Mapal Kang-jeibung and Major Khul.

Joining the social service, IGP S Manglemjao said today's endeavour aims to main- tain hygiene in the city areas and drive home the message to all citizens on the need to keep city areas neat and clean.
Reminding that random dumping of wastes is serious concern for all citizens as such irresponsible acts pose serious health threat to the pe-ople, he suggested that wastes be discarded at spots identified by the IMC authorities so that the latter's workers could collect the same for disposal at dumping sites.
