Imphal, February 15 2023:
To motivate the youth excel in the held of sports thereby promoting sports culture in border villages of Manipur and to assure correct channelisation of their energy, Company Operating Bases (COB) H Khunou and Singhat of Khuga Battalion of IGAR (South) organised friendly volleyball matches between youth of H Khunou, Singhat villages and Assam Rifles troops at H Khunou and Singhat COBs re spectively in Churachandpur district on Tuesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the event started with interaction with village youth followed by volleyball matches and a small tea party.
During the event, the youth were asked about their aspirations and were motivated for a symbiotic association and progressive career.
A total of 27 youngsters attended the event in the two locations.
During the interaction, the youth were briefed about sports culture in India, importance of healthy and stress-free life and the opportunities available in today s environment in various sports genres.
They were also motivated to follow their dream sports and bring accolades to their family, state and country.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (South) organised a friendly volleyball match with youth of Mualdak village under the theme 'Fighting Drugs Through Sports' at S Khollian in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
The volleyball match was aimed at promoting sports as a tool to fight drugs usage amongst the youth.
The event was organised to build harmony and understanding between the local youth and the security forces.
The game was also used as a platform for talent hunt in the field of sports for recruitment in Armed Forces.
The village authorities, local youth and players expressed their gratitude to the security forces for conducting such fruitful events.
