Meiteis scattered across globe should unite for common welfare, says Meitei Leepun president

Meitei Leepun president M Pramot has maintained that Meiteis scattered across the globe must be united to undertake initiatives for the common welfare of Meiteis to establish a mettlesome Meitei community.
He made the statement while speaking at the inauguration function of a brand new shed of Meitei Leepun, Kanglatongbi constructed by the Meitei community of Kanglatongbi, Mantriband under Imphal West district.
The event was attended by around 130 volunteers of Meitei Leepun.
Speaking on the occasion, M Pramot stated that Meitei Leepun is an organisation that aims to unite Meiteis across the world to address the issues plaguing Meitei society.
He refuted allegations which accused the organisation of being based on communalism, while adding that the allegations are made by people who don't know the difference between communalism and nationalism.
Stating that the newly inaugurated shed will facilitate smooth operation of activities related to the organisation, he stated that it will also help in fostering better relations among the different communities of the region.
He then assured that similar sheds will be built in various other localities in the future.
Other dignitaries present at the event include Shivakumar Basnet, advisor, Manipuri Gurkha Youth Association; Arjun Yogi, president and many notable leaders of Meitei Leepun.
Separately, Meitei Leepun also conducted a meeting at Chanung under Imphal East district today presided over by M Pramot.
The gathering discussed many current issues prevalent in Meitei society and potential problems of the future.
The meeting highlighted the need for Meiteis to unite in order to deal with all these issues.
