Man arrested for duping job seekers

Imphal, February 15 2023:
A person who has been at large after collecting huge amount of money from job aspirants on the pretext of providing lucrative jobs has been finally arrested by a team of Lamphel police led by OC P Khogendro, on Tuesday.
The arrested person has been identified as Changambam Manoranjan Khuman (66) s/o Brajakishor of Pishumthong Ningom Leirak Machin.
Addressing media persons at his conference hall, Imphal West SP Ksh Shivananda Singh informed that Manoranjan Khuman has been running an office named Central Paramilitary Force (SSB-BSF) Battalion Sub- appointment committee, near Langol Housing complex Meitei Mandop posing self as internal security advisor of ministry of home affairs, north east region.
He has been collecting money from unemployed youths bf the state for securing jobs in SSB or BSF as general duty staff.
The police officer further informed that Manoranjan collected over Rs 1 crore from the public through his fake recruitment process in between October 2013 to 2016 .
He went into hid ing along with the extorted money since 2016 and had been staying in Delhi and Mizoram.
In 2016, Lamphel police station lodged an FIR No-222(11)2016 U/S 417/420/506/34 IPC along with the CJM Imphal West issuing a non bailable warrant against him on June 6, 2017 .
After being at large for long, a team of Lamphel police station led by its OC P Khogendro was able to arrest Manoranjan from his house at Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai in Imphal East district around 7 pm on Tuesday.
The Silchar police station had also lodged an FIR No 284 dated 07/02/2023 u/s 419/386 IPC on February 7 against him on extortion charges, the SP said while appealing to the people to stay away from such people.
