Song, poetry books released

Akendra Tensuba's song book 'Nungsit Sittana Unase Lengle' was released in a function organised by Manipuri Literary Society, Imphal at the hall of Manipur Hindi Parishad, Old Assembly Road, here, on Wednesday.
Sahitya Akademi award winning writer Yumlembam Ibomcha and Literary Society, Imphal president Nongmaithem Kirankumar attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Akendra Tensuba informed that he became an approved lyricist of AIR Imphal in 1997 and it motivated him to work further in the field.
The song book is a collection of some of his select lyrics penned between April 22, 2013 and August 16, 2022 .
The book contains lyrics of 145 songs.
He thanked AIR Imphal station director Adhikarimayum Geetchandra Sharma and music programme officer Tokeshwari Elangbam for granting permission to feature lyrics of songs broadcast on AIR Imphal.
He also thanked members of Manipuri Literary Society, Imphal and Yaibiren Communications' proprietor Imojeet Ningombam for their support in publishing the song book.
The title of the book is based on the popular song 'Nungsit Sittana Unase Lengle' sung by renowned singer Huidrom Naoboy.
Quad Writers, Moirang president Salam Tomba gave a brief review of the book on the occasion.
Later, a poetry meet under the title 'Nungsi Seirol Seitha' was held with the chief guest and president as the moderators.
Altogether, 47 writers, both male and female, presented poems in the event.
Meanwhile, a poetry book titled 'Eigi Yum Leite', written by Thawan (Irengbam Bronson) was released at Books & Coffee, Singjamei on Wednesday.
The release function of the poetry book published by Kekru Publications was attended by poets Tayenjam Bijoykumar and Saratchand Thiyam among others while Linthoi Ningthoujam interacted with the poet Thawan and discussed about the book as a part of the function.
