IPAK resumes publication of journal

While pointing out that periodicals are great source of knowledge, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) president Wangkhemcha Shamjai has expressed concern over the declining number of periodicals published in the state.
He was speaking as chief guest at the releasing function of the February issue of IPAK monthly journal.
The publication resumed from this month after a hiatus.
Renowned singer and Rup Raag president Naba Volcano presided over the function while filmmaker OC Meira and Ipak editor Rakesh Naorem attended as special guests.
Addressing the gathering, Shamjai recalled that there were plenty of weekly, quarterly, fortnight and monthly periodicals in the state about four decades ago.
However, only a handful of periodicals could be seen today.
In such a situation, resuming publication of IPAK is a welcome step, he said while conveying wishes for a great future ahead.
Naba Volcano said that February 15 is his birthday and he feels happy to attend the function of releasing IPAK journal.
Stating that the journal is an important publication catering in the field of art and culture among others, he urged the IPAK team to ensure regular publication of the journal.
