Meitei Leepun stresses unity of Meiteis

Stressing the need for people belonging to the Meitei community settling in different parts of the globe to unite, Meitei Leepun has opined that the community can become vibrant and self-reliant only when the Meitei people work with unity and sincerely for its welfare and development.
Speaking during the inaugural function of a meeting hall of Meitei Leepun, Kanglatongbi at Kanglatongbi Mantriban on Wednesday which was attended by over 130 volunteers and officials of Meitei Leepun, its president M Pramot said that Meitei Leepun is an organisation working to unite the people of Meitei community settling in different parts of the globe and to work together on various issues of the community thereby making it at par with other communities.
Stating that Meitei Leepun is not associated with any unlawful organisation but functions under the Constitution of India, M Pramot informed that the organisation is striving to work together with other communities of the state.
"Some individuals and organisations which do not understand the difference between communalism and nationalism are blaming Meitei Leepun as a communal organisation," he opined while clarifying that it is not based on religion but believes in nationalism and is contributing its mite to strengthen the Meitei community.
The newly constructed meeting hall will facilitate in organising different activities of the organisation in addition to budding cordial relationship with other communities in the area.
The organisation is all set to set up such meeting halls in different parts of the state, he added.
The function was also attended by Manipur Gurkha Youth Association advisor Shivakumar Basnet, president Arjun Jogi and other leaders of Meitei Leepun.
