Three held with drugs separately

Imphal, February 15 2023:
At least two drug peddlers have been arrested by Thoubal commandos and 16 Assam Rifles along with 484 gram of brown sugar from Uningkhong Bridge at Wangjing along Imphal Moreh road today while security personnel of Imphal Airport detained a middle-aged woman who came to send 20 packets of WY tablets containing four thousand pieces to New Delhi, yesterday.
The drug peddlers arrested with brown sugar have been identified as Makakmayum Hefajuddin (27), s/o Md Riaz of Lilong Shambrukhong Mamei and Md Washim Akram @ Boinao (22), s/o Md Abdul Rashid of Lilong Shambrukhong Awang while the woman who planned to send the WY tablets is Niangminthang, w/o Paukhandou (45) of Tangnuam Village in Churachandpur.
As per earlier estimation, 484 gram of brown sugar is valued at around Rs 72 lakh in the international market and the value of the seized WY tablets in the same market is around Rs 20 lakh.

According to sources, the brown sugar brought in 41 soap cases were to be transported from Sajik Tampak in Chandel district to Lilong.
On receiving inputs about the arrangement, the joint team carried out frisking and checking drive along Imphal-Moreh road, during which one Bolero Jeep with Assam registration number was detained.
From the vehicle, 484 gram of brown sugar was seized and the driver and the occupant who were identified later were arrested.
The arrested persons have been handed over to Khongjom police station along with the seized drug.
Meanwhile, security personnel of Indigo Cargo Service at Imphal International Airport detained Niangminthang while trying to send the WY tablets to New Delhi and she has been handed over to Singjamei police station.
The WY tablets were detected during baggage screening.
Reportedly, the consignment was to be delivered to Rana Market Courier Service at South Delhi.
Singjamei Police have registered a case against her under ND&PS Act.
She has been taken into police custody.
