Mega State Level Open Boxing Championship gets underway

Imphal, March 28 2022:
The Mega State Level Open Boxing Championship organised by the United Boxing Academy and NLC Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai under the aegis of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association kicked off today at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
In all, 163 athletes are taking part in this championship.
The first day of the championship saw Pheiroijam Nonglen Meitei of NBA advancing to the youth men's 54 kg (2004-05) semi-finals after beating Pusham Yashin of UBA in a quarter final bout.
Johnson Khoirom of IND also entered sub-junior boys (2008-09) 55 kg semi-finals beating Keisham Thoungamba (NBA) in a quarter final clash today.

Musha Ahamad of UBA, in the meantime advanced to the semi-finals of youth men's (2004-05) 63.5 kg competition, outlasting Ronald Yumkhaibam BBA in a last 8 round match.
In a quarter final bouts for 48 kg junior boys (2006-07) competition, Khuraijam Guliver of KBA sealed his place in the semi-finals beating Mayanglambam Thoithoiba of IND and Nandeibam Babychand Meetei of NBA beat Khunjamayum Bidyananda of STC.
Earlier in the quarter final bouts for the sub-junior boys (2008-09) 46 kg category, Khaidem Sanatomba Meitei of STC downed Irom Kangleiwang of NBA; Chingkham Tingo outlasted Ningombam Jackson of BBA and Nongthombam Henthoiba Singh of PBA saw off Lenginmang Kipgen of MKBA.
Meanwhile in the sub-junior boys (2008-09) 58 kg quarter final bouts, Khaidem Lanchenba Meitei of STC overcame Shel Asem Moirangcha of IND as Laishram Mangansa of NBA outlasted Naorem Borish Singh of BBA and Rajkumar Yumkhaibam of IND beat B Edwin of MKBA.
Elsewhere in the sub-junior boys (2008-09) 52 kg quarter final clashes, of Rakesh Konjengbam of IIS prevailed over Epham Ibrahim Khan of UBA and Konjengbam Pathouba of STC downed MKBA's Wonder Thiumei.
In a lone sub-junior boys (2008-09) 35 kg quarter final bout, Tonambam Chingkheinganba of NBA beat Ningombam Romesh Singh of BBA to enter semi-finals.
