Imphal, March 28 2022:
Urging non-media persons not to use 'press' stickers on their vehicles, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has informed that with the help of Manipur police, it will launch drive to find out those misusing press stickers so as to take up appropriate actions against the unauthorised persons.
In a release, AMWJU general secretary Khwairakpam Naoba pointed out that there are reports of misusing 'press' stickers by non-media persons particularly on four wheelers thereby misleading the public and harming the image of the media persons.
Such act is violation of rights and responsibilities of working journalists, he cautioned.
The act of misleading the press/media which is considered to be the fourth pillar of democracy by some people in a conflict zone like Manipur is taken seriously, Naoba said, while urging the non media people not to paste 'Press' stickers on their vehicles.
He also made it clear that those misusing press stickers should remove them within a week failing which complaints will be registered to Manipur DGP and will take the help of law.
