All Manipur Covid Warriors' Association has warned of launching intense forms of agitations if the government does not to make alternative arrangement for Covid warriors who were utilised during the height of the pandemic but have been terminated from service now.
Addressing a press conference at Imphal West Covid Care Centre, Lamboi Khongnangkhong on Monday, association president Rajasana Sinam said that the Covid warriors were requisitioned by the government and relevant authority to fight COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic but they are being terminated now.
Government lauded role of Covid warriors when the pandemic raged but these warriors are being terminated now as if they are priceless or worthless.
Many Covid warriors stopped their service from private hospitals to serve people and some of them have crossed the age bar for joining government jobs, she said and condemned government's sudden termination without considering livelihood means of these warriors.
According to Rajasana, service of Cqvid warriors was terminated without giving any prior information and many of them were ditched while doing duty as their termination orders were issued backdated.
Condemning the manner in which the warriors were terminated, Rajasana demanded immediate release of pending six months' honorarium and fresh honorarium by first week of April.
She also said that Covid warrior must be given priority in recruitment of fresh staff in medical department or else the association would launch intense forms of agitation.
