The 3rd Koijam Yaima Memorial Promotional (Non State Players) Badminton Championship 2014 came to an end today.
The tournament was organized by Manipur Badminton Association (MBA) at Indoor Stadium, D.M.College Campus.
On the closing day of 8-day long tournament, Yengkhom Punshiba and his partner RK Upananda defeated the pair of Oinam Nirjit and Rahul Pukhrambam by 21-13, 21-14 sets in the double match of U-15 .
In the men's double final match of 55 years, duo of Konsam Shyam and Longjam Basantakanta defeated Th.Manihar and Th.Sarat by 21-8, 21-11 sets while in the 55 years men's doubles final, K.Geetchandra and M.Rajen subdued M.Kanmi and N.Shyam by 21-12, 21-19 sets.

Pair of M.Arunkumar beat Ch.
Ranjan and Kh.
Olwinson by 21-17, 21-19 in the U-19 boys doubles final match.
In the final match of men's 35 years doubles, S.Bimol and Th.Phulchandra defeated M.Jiten and P.Golmei by 20-13, 16-21, 21-16 sets.
K.Chinglemba and Y.Punshiba won over H.Hitler and RK.
Tolensana by 22-14, 21-19, 21-13 in the U-15 Boys' doubles final.
The duo of Ng.
Robendro and Th.Ibotombi beat Ingocha and Kh.
Ranjit by 21-8, 21-17 in the 45 years men's doubles.
N.Ningthem and Sapam Bimol outshined O.Joychandra and T.Khomei by 21-11, 21-18 sets in the 40 years men's doubles final.
H.Sunder overpowered M.Devraj Luwang by 21-12, 21-11 in the men's single final match.

Premkumar defeated Gasubankar and K.Gyanbir by 23-21, 17-21, 24, 22 sets in the U-17 boy's double final.
Hirom Ibomcha and Mutum Minachandra oust M.Imocha and Ronal Soibam by 21-17, 17-21, 21-19 sets in the men's doubles final.
In the boy's singles final of U-13, Punshiba Yengkhom beat Nicholas Yengkhom by 21-13, 21-13 sets.
Altogether 507 players from different parts of Manipur participated in the championship.

Duggal, Governor of Manipur, who attended in the closing function as chief guest, expressed that opportunities of setting up of Rajiv Gandhi Badminton Academy in Manipur by Badminton Association of India (BAI) should be taken.
Badminton Association of Manipur should ponder on such opportunity by holding a thorough discussion immediately with the government of Manipur.
Governor also recalled the popularity of Badminton during the reign of Maharaj Churachand in 1920 and said that Manipur Badminton Association was established in 1955 .
Hailing the achievement of Meiraba Luwang, who won gold medal in Belgium in the category of U-13, the Governor noted that Meiraba, who is also no.1 of India in U-13 category, has created history of Manipur by winning various trophies in different championships held in different parts of the world in U-13 year's categories.
A sum of Rs.50,000 and another Rs.5,000 respectively donated by Nongthombam Biren, MLA, Heingang A/C and Thoudam Tomba, veteran Badminton player were also handed over to Meiraba by the Governor.
After the championship, governor distributed prizes to the winners and runners' up players in various categories.
An exhibition match between Meiraba and Emson was played.
The match was won by Meiraba by 30-29 points.
Emson who stood 7th position in U-15 of India was also honoured by presenting gift items by Manipur Badminton Association.
