Imphal, May 13 2014 :
Cadres of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF), who had signed the Suspension of Operation Agreement with the Government of India and the Manipur State on 9 September 2013, have been delivered the gift of true homecoming by IGAR (South) in a record time, which is unparalleled in the history of Manipur, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
This is the first time, that within six months of the KNLF homecoming, the group has been given their own camp and relocated from their temporary camp.
As per sources, the KNLF group had requested for setting up of a model camp for their families at village Semol under Khengjoi Block of Chandel district, as most of the surrendered cadres belong to the area of Semol.
Accordingly, 26 Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) pursued the request with both the Government of India as well as the Manipur Government for establishing the KNLF camp at Semol which stands approved.
The early approval of the State and the Central Government is a testimony that IGAR (South) has not only ensured an early rehabilitation of the KNLF cadres but is also committed to their true homecoming and union with their families and friends.
Meanwhile, the army unit of the 26 Sector Assam Rifles is leaving no stone unturned, to bring up the model camp for the KNLF cadres at Semol village.
The construction of the camp will not only pave a way for the cadres of KNLF to lead a respectful life as true citizens of India but will also send a strong message to the other outfits to abjure the path of violence and join the mainstream, the PRO added.
