NERPF resolves to play key role in formation of new Govt at Centre

North East Regional Political Front (NERPF) has decided to render political support and play a key role in formation of a new stable Government at the Centre.
The decision of the 11-party front came a day after the staggered16th Lok Sabha polls ended.
The crucial decision was taken during a meeting of the regional parties' front held at the office of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in Guwahati on Tuesday, informed N Sovakiran, president, Manipur People's Party (MPP), a constituent party of the front.
He said the meeting was presided over by Nagaland Chief Minister and Naga people's front (NPF) president Neiphiu Rio and former Assam Chief Minister and AGP chief Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, who is also the chief advisor of NERPF, also participated in the meeting along with representatives of MPP, AGP, NPF, United Democratic Front (UDF), Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), People's Party of Arunachal (PPA), Meghalaya based National People's Party (NPP) and Mizo National Front (MNF).
He further informed that the meeting approved NPP chief and former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma to join the Front.
The meeting deliberated on the present political scenario and new political development taking place in the country after the marathon national elections, Sovakiran said, and added that the meeting later unanimously resolved to render political support and play a key role in formation of a new stable government at the Centre.
NERPF was formed on October 21, 2013 by representatives from the eleven political parties of the North east region.
The motive was to form a new political front to protect the interest of the people of the region.
