Imphal, May 13 2014 :
The two Manipuri truck drivers, who were reportedly abducted by unknown persons in Assam's Lakhimpur district May 9 for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, have been freed.
The two drivers were set free by the kidnappers without claiming the ransom after the owners of the two trucks made a fervent appeal to them.
However, the kidnappers robbed the duo before their release.
Ch Lukhoi (50), a resident of Khongjom Chingtham Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district and Kh Naoba (24), hailing from Khongjom Sapam Leikai were abducted by the unidentified people somewhere between Phuletan and Lakhimpur Police Station in Assam on May 9 around 10 pm.
The two Manipur-bound trucks were on the way after loading Star cements from Phuletan bazaar when the abduction took place.
Kh Naoba was released by the kidnappers around 6 pm yesterday while Lukhoi was freed around 10 am Tuesday at separate places in Assam.
