Imphal, May 13 2014 :
The State Government has initiated necessary steps to get rid of IOC's loaded tankers that are presently occupying ISBT, Khuman Lampak.
Taking serious note of the ever worsening condition of the ISBT which is not yet fully complete, the Government took up certain measures to relocate the load tankers at CAF&PD godown of Koirengei, informed a source.
The CAF&PD Director together with IOC officials and transporters today visited and inspected the Koirengei godown where the loaded tankers would be shifted.
The oil tankers would be shifted to Koirengei after the approach road and the area where they would be accommodated are repaired/renovated.
The ISBT was constructed by private firm M/S Avantika with fund provided by NEC.
However, accommodation of a large number of oil tankers even before the construction work is fully complete reduced the complex to total mess.
The situation is so worrisome that the incomplete portions need fresh construction, said a PWD official.
The WBM layer which was abandoned without black-topping has now disappeared.
The whole complex is soiled and the toilet complexes are in mess.
Still some bills owed to the Government have not been paid.
With the NEC refusing to revise the project, it is not clear when the construction work would be fully complete and the complex handed over to Transport Department.
Loaded oil tankers were accommodated at ISBT on temporary basis as the ground levelling work for IOC's rail fed depot at Malom could not be completed.
