Kakching, April 16 2023:
A team of Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB), Manipur and Khongjom police impounded a mini truck involved in unauthorised earth quarrying from Tentha hillock on Sunday morning.
According to JCCWB convener Romesh Ningthoujam, the impounded mini truck was handed over to DFO Thoubal for further necessary action but four other mini trucks and one JCB excavator involved in the illegal act escaped upon seeing the joint team.
The seizure was made after someone informed the committee about the illegal mining through its helpline number, he added.
