Assam Rifles celebrates millet food festival

Sajik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (South) celebrated First Millet Food Festival with the farmers of Kana Area in Chandel district, on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (South), the festival was organised with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of Millet as well as agriculture.
As the global agricultural food supply faces challenges to the growing global population, resilient cereals like Millet provide an affordable and nutritious option, the PRO said, adding that, such festivals will also emphasis on local agricultural products available in the community.
While conveying that as a part of the festival, branding of Millet and recipes were displayed and served to the locals, the PRO said that the event concluded with distribution of Millet seeds as well as other agricultural products to the farmers.
The event was participated by 180 villagers of Kana Area, maintained the PRO, adding that efforts of the Sajik Tampak Battalion was appreciated by the villagers and conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for conducting such festival.
