CM praises Centre for honouring Manipuri language

BJP Manipur Pradesh organised a training programme on 'Booth Sashaktikaran, Data Entry, Saral app & Vistarak' for Imphal West, East and Imphal Central units at JNMDA hall, here, on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed that the centre is honouring a small state like Manipur by permitting aspiring candidates to appear for central recruitments in their own native language.
He also conveyed gratitude to the Union government for upholding the interest of Manipur's youthful population who are eager to join periodically conducted recruitment exams in central institutions.
The CM made the statement a day after the ministry of home affairs (MHA) approved conducting constable (general duty) examination for central armed police forces (CAPFs) in 13 regional languages including Manipuri, in addition to Hindi and English.
The decision has been taken to give impetus to participation of local youth in the CAPF and encourage regional languages.
In addition to Hindi and English, the question paper will be set in other 13 regional languages including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri and Konkani.
The decision will result in lakh of aspirants taking part in the examination in their mother tongue and regional language and improve, their selection prospects.
Regarding the training programme, the CM said that such programmes will encourage voter participation by strengthening the weak polling stations and will further ensure a strong organisational network at the ground level.
He then expressed his un dying support to BJP, after recounting his experiences of being part of other national and regional parties.
The central government respects Manipur, which is a mini-India with all its different communities, and as such, takes permission in the form of Inner Line Permit to enter the state.
This is a matter of pride for BJP workers, he remarked.
Biren then cautioned against making hate speeches on social media platforms, adding that it would be best for all concerned to remember the presence of the government.
The programme was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, organisation secretary Abhay Giri, Health and Family Welfare minister Sapam Ranjan and BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary P Premananda as presidium members.
