'National Fire Service Day' observed in Bishnupur, Thoubal

Thoubal Fire Service on Sunday organised a mock drill cum awareness programme at Thoubal Mela-ground under the theme "Learn Fire Safety, Increase Productivity" as a part of observance of the National Fire Service Day.
National Fire Service Day is observed across the country to commemorate the tragic 'Bombay Explosion' that occurred on April 14, 1944 at Victoria Dock in Bombay where two British commercial ships exploded killing 1300 people including 71 firemen.
During the mock drill cum awareness programme, firemen of Thoubal Fire Service demonstrated safety measures to be adopted to prevent major fire incidents and ways to control it.
Speaking on the sidelines, Manipur Fire Service sub-officer Kh Surchahdra informed that as part of the week long observance which commenced from April 14, teams of Manipur Fire Service in collaboration with district fire service units conducted fire mock drill cum awareness programmes in Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Thoubal districts on Sunday.
He also advised the people to take basic precautionary measures to prevent major fire outbreaks.
The programme was also attended by Manipur Fire Service joint director L Nabachandra.
On the other hand, Bishnupur Fire Sub Station observed the Fire Service Week near the Bishnupur Forest Gate crossing on Sunday.
As part of the programme, an awareness camp under the theme "Fire Safety for Growth of National Infrastructure" was also conducted during which ways of using fire extinguisher, foam monitor and water spray to control major fires were demonstrated.
The programme was also attended by L Nabachandra Singh, Bishnupur fire sub-station officer in-charge Akhin Kamei, sub-officers Rona, Surchandra, Rishikanta and Y Rajesh among others.
Similar programmes were also conducted in Imphal and Moirang.
