Ahead of the 59th Wildlife Week which is scheduled in the first week of October, a survey would be conducted in some areas of Manipur where wild birds abound.
For this, a research team including experts from the Indian Bird Conservation Network left for Churachandpur today.
The bird survey which is being sponsored by the Wildlife Wing of Forest Department was flagged off by Deputy Conservator of Forest (Park and Sanctuary) L Joykumar from Laimanai Thingpui village, Churachandpur district this morning.
The 12-member team consists of researchers from the Indian Bird Conservation Network, Bombay Natural History Society and Centre for Conservation of Nature and Cultivation of Science.
In connection with the Wildlife Week, reports of field surveys extending up to three months should be filed for each and every district of Manipur, said DCF Joykumar.
Indian Bird Conservation Network, Manipur Chapter co-ordinator RK Birjit is the leader of the team which headed to Churachandpur today.
