The military ties between India and Myanmar are on an upswing.
The Border Roads Organisation of Indian Army had developed the Friendship Road and still provides maintenance staff for its maintenance, according to a press release issued by the PRO IGAR (South) .
Towards furthering the close ties, one soil compactor has been presented to Myanmar today.
Brigadier Rajiv Chhibber, Commander, 26 Sector Assam Rifles while presenting the soil compactor, on behalf of the Indian Army, to Brig Gen Aung Thu Oo, Cdr RCC Kalay reiterated that historically India and Myanmar have faced numerous challenges but have always overcome them through unity of purpose and mutual respect and understanding.
Today by presenting Myanmar Army with this soil compactor the Indian Army has reaffirmed its friendship and goodwill.
Together the armies have taken steps towards mutual growth and confidence.
The event, which was witnessed by civil dignitaries from both sides of the border was highly appreciated by the local populace who citing examples from history of peaceful co-existence between people from both sides of the international border.
The local people were sanguine that the mutual coop between the two armies will herald an era of peace and prosperity between both the countries in this border town.
This initiative is in furtherance to the "Look east policy" of the Government of India.
