Chothe Bible released

Reverend Dr ZK Rochil, senior auxiliary secretary, Bible society of India (BSI), Dimapur released a New Testament Bible for Chothe tribes entitled "Athar Khuthrou", published by Bible Society of India, in a function held at Chothe Baptist Churches Association head office at Phaipi (Chandonpokpi) Village, Chandel district, today.
The Holy book was translated in Chothe Tribe dialect from English by Reverend Halpu Yullhung.
representatives of BSI presented the newly released Chothe New Testament Bible to eminent personalities free of cost during the release function.
Choir members of Old Wangparal EFCI Church also presented gospel songs on the occasion.
Briefing media persons, Reverend Halpu Yullhung said the translation work of the Bible started in June 2000 and was completed in 2010.Proof reading and printing process however took more than three years.
Conferring the credit of the translation work to BSI, Halpu also expressed gratitude to senior Pastors and literature committee who had helped him in proof reading the translated Bible.
Reverend Zambolis Sawkmie, advisor BSI Shillong, Reverend Ngamjapao Haokip, Pastor, Kuki Baptist Convention and TH Saka, president, BSI Chandel branch also attended the book release function besides executive members of Chothe Baptist Churches Association, religious leaders from different denominations, tribe leaders and village chiefs.
