Manipur Government acts as a mere NGO: Nabachandra

President of United Committee Manipur (UCM) Yumnam Nabachandra has said that Manipur Government functions only to acquire funds from the Central Government and World Bank, and it does not exhibit any real character of being a democratic government.
He was speaking as one of the presidium members of the 14th Manipur Integrity and Solidarity Day Observance-2014 organized jointly by Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) and National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
Nabachandra further said that the State Government is like a non-governmental organization (NGO) functioning solely on some funds from the central agencies.
The government has no policy of its own nor can it guarantee the rights of the people.

The government is least bothered about the welfare and development of the people, he rued.
UCM President also reiterated that the people of Manipur are strongly committed to protect the State's territorial integrity.
The people of Manipur had strongly protested to force the Central government to remove the clause "without territorial limit" from the ceasefire agreement with NSCN-IM.
President of Kuki Women's Union Rose Mangsi Haokip said that all people of Manipur regardless of communities and religions should stand united to face any threat to the territorial integrity of the State.
The observance was also attended by President of AMKIL Phanjoubam Sakhi, President of NIPCO Sunil Karam, Editor of Freedom Rk Ranendrajit and Vice-President of Zeliangrong R Chandra Haomi as presidium members.
