Dimapur, September 28 2014:
In 1980, several NSCN-IM leaders were killed and the Naga outfit continues to remember the moment 35 years down the line every year.
In a press communique issued today, the NSCN-IM said the 'Agony Day Anniversary' was observed in 'painful' remembrance of the past brutality committed by 'Shillong Accordists' in connivance with the 'occupational forces,' that happened 35 years ago on September 27, 1980 .
According to the NSCN-IM, prominent 'Naga freedom fighters' were most inhumanly butchered for their decision to defy the infamous Shillong Accord on the very day.
Remembering the day, the NSCN-IM said it observed the 35th Agony Day Anniversary at General Headquarters (GHQ) at Hebron, with Qhevihe Chishi Swu, convener, Steering Committee and Lt Gen Phungthing Shimrang (MC), the outfit's army chief (Longvibu), as the speakers.
