Imphal, September 14, 2010:
The Chief Wildlife Warden has imposed restrictions on the LDA from cutting the Phumdis of Loktak lake through Keibul Lamjao National Park and releasing them through the river.
Following the restriction, LDA has proposed for a joint inspection inside the National Park.
Based on a news report published by The Sangai Express on inclusion of the Phumdis inside the National Park in the ongoing clearance by LDA, Chief Wildlife Warden has cancelled the earlier permission given to the LDA by issuing an order on September 9. Meanwhile, accompanied by other officials of the Department, Chief Wildlife Warden A Kharsing today visited Keibul Lamjao National Park for inspection.
On the other hand, in connection with clearing of Phumdis from the lake, a meeting of the steering committee of LDA was convened today with the Chief Secretary in the chair.
