Dwijamani being considered for appointment as MPCC working president: Sanjay Dadlika

MLA Gaikhangam was today formally elected as the president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) for the third consecutive term.
Member of Central Eelction Committee of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Sanjay Dadlika handed over the certificate of election to Gaikhangam in the presence of Chief Minister O Ibobi, all the Congress Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, Rajya Sabha MP, Rishang Keishing, Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya, presidents and leaders of District Congress Committees, Block Congress Committees, important party functionaries and workers at a function held at the Congress Bhavan, BT Road here.
AICC observer Dadlika today announced that MLAs Gaikhangam, E Dwijamai and Dr Kh Ratankumar were elected as president, vice-president and treasurer respectively of the MPCC for the next five-year term uncontested, and handed over the certificates of election to them.
He further said that the party is considering to appoint MLA E Dwijamani, who had been nominated as vice-president, to be the working president.
A clearance from the AICC has been sought in this regard today itself, he added.
Sanjay Dadlika asserted that the Congress party is a big democratic political party of the country and asked party workers and leaders to strictly abide by the ideology of the party.
In the election of party officer bearers, workers should keep in mind the party's ideology and to not indulge in any acts which would hurt the integrity of the party.
Reacting to events which prevented E Dwijamani to file his nomination paper for the post of president, Sanjay blandly remarked that only incumbent president Gaikhangam filed nomination paper for candidature for the post of president.
He also asserted that E Dwijamani filed nomination for post of vice-president and Ratankumar for the treasurer.
The election process was conducted smoothly in a fair manner, he added.
President elect Gaikhangam who attended the function said that the election was completed smoothly.
Elections of president, vice president and treasurer have been confirmed by distributing certificates.
Attending the function, Chief Minister, O Ibobi termed the Congress party as a big family and it is the right of all party workers and leaders to express their opinions and suggestions for the betterment of the party.
Ibobi called upon party workers to extend co-operation to the new leaders.
He expressed happiness that the election of officer bearers of the party were concluded without any violent incident.
Rajya Sabha MP, Rishang Keishing taking part in the function said that people of hill and valley need to join hands to bring peace in the state.
It is also a must for party workers to work in the interest of the state and teh nation.
During the function, names of nominated vice-presidents and general secretaries were also announced.
T Mangibabu, S Achouba, Dr Maniruddin Sheikh, Dr Chaltonlein Amo, Meerabai, Loken and Ngamthang Haokip were nominated as vice-president while Bidyapati Senjam, M Oken, Jayentakumar, Victor Keishing, Francis Ngakjokpa, Korungthang, E Suraj, Tilotama and Gobindas were nominated as general scretaries.
